Today’s recipe is an easy one when you are looking for a tasty cookie. I love simple recipes like this one because I can use ingredients I already have on hand and the amount of clean up is minimal. I also love the way all the flavors come together in a cheesy snack in just minutes too.

Chocolate Chips – I love to use milk chocolate chips for this recipe, but you can use semi-sweet chocolate chips or white chocolate chips.

  1. Cream butter and sugar
  2. Add egg.
  3. Mix dry ingredients in a separate bowl.
  4. Add vanilla to the egg.

  • Make the dry ingredients ahead of time and it will be ready to add when you are.
  • You can store the dry ingredients in a mason jar. This also makes a great gift idea if you stack the ingredients and wrap the jar with a bow. Just give then the recipe so that the recipient knows what to add.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups cooking oats
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup milk chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • 1. In a large bowl, cream butter, sugars eggs, and vanilla until well blended.
    2. In another bowl, combine flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon.
    3. Slowly add dry ingredients to butter mixture.
    4. Fold in oats.
  • 5. Fold in chocolate chips
  • 6. Drop by rounded teaspoons about 2" apart on a greased cookie sheet.
  • 7. Bake 12 – 13 minutes in 375° oven until light brown

  1. We got new cooking oats just yesterday! I love oatmeal and chocolate chips together. It makes up for how I do NOT love oatmeal and raisins together.
