This slow cooker chicken recipe is a family favorite at our house, moist chicken and basil in a creamy sundried tomato sauce make for a wonderful dish. I use a milk and heavy cream combination to lighten up the creamy sauce a bit.

How to Make Crockpot Marry Me Chicken

Step 1 - Dredge the chicken pieces in flour, salt and ....Brown the chicken in a skillet over medium heat before adding it to the crock pot. Sauté until golden brown.

Step 2 - Add chicken, broth, cream, tomatoes and cream cheese. Add seasonings.

Step 3 - Cover and cook on high for 2-2.5 hours.

Step 4- Add Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
Serve with the sauce. This recipe can be cooked with rice in the crockpot so the rice is an optional ingredient. The photo below shows the chicken with chicken rice on the side.

This delicious chicken dish tastes best the day it is made, but if you happen to have leftovers, store in the refrigerator in an airtight container.

- Don't skip browning the chicken before adding to the crock pot. This will help to seal in the juices and make the chicken more flavorful.

- Store leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container. You can also freeze this recipe, store in a freezer-safe container for up to 2-3 months. You could store longer but I find that dishes lose a bit if flavor after a couple of months.

Crockpot Marry Me Chicken
Ingredients
- 3-4 chicken breasts sliced
- ½ cup all purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup chicken broth or chicken stock
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 4 oz cream cheese cubed
- ⅓ cup drained sun dried tomatoes chopped
- 2 tablepsoons fresh basil chopped
- ½ cup shredded parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
- 1 ½ cup instant rice optional
Instructions
- Mix flour, salt, paprika and black pepper in a small bowl. Dredge chicken pieces in flour mixture.
- In a large skillet, add olive oil and butter over low heat. Add chicken pieces and brown about 2 -3 minutes each side and set aside.
- In a large crock pot, add chicken, broth, cream, cream cheese, sun dried tomatoes and seasonings.
- Cook on high for 2 hours- 2.5 hours (this will depend on how thick your chicken is..Stir to mix sauce.
- At this point, there is an option to shred the chicken.
- Add parmesan cheese. If adding rice, this is the time to add it. see option below. Cook an additional 15-20 minutes.
Rice Option
- Stir in rice and parmesan cheese and cook for an additional 15-20 mins until chicken is done and rice is tender.
