Pro Tips and Timesaver Shortcuts

At step number six, the dough should be tacky, but not sticky. If it is too sticky, add more flour 1 tablespoon at a time.

Are you looking for the perfect place to let your rolls rise? Check to see if your oven has a “proof” setting. That setting is designed to help bread rise without killing the yeast. If you are cooking in the kitchen a bunch, simply setting the tray of rolls near the cooktop will be sufficient. You can also place the tray of rolls (covered) on a chair, near a heating vent.

Make homemade cinnamon butter if you crave that topping on your Texas Roadhouse rolls.

FAQ

What is the best way to warm milk?

I recommend microwaving your milk for ten seconds at a time. After each ten-second interval, stir the milk to remove pockets of heat and check the milk temperature.

Can I use parchment paper on my baking sheet?

Bread dough tends to be just a little bit too sticky for parchment paper. For best results, spray your pan with cooking spray.

What do I do if my yeast doesn’t get foamy?

This step is called “proofing” and it’s a way of finding out if your yeast is still active or if it has died off. If it does not get foamy, I recommend starting over with new yeast. Make sure you have the correct temperature of the milk. Too hot will kill the yeast and too cold will keep it from foaming up.

These go great with my friend Laura’s Easy Barbecue Chicken in the oven for a fabulous barbecue feast!

I've heard of this, and I've heard of the butter. Cinnamon honey butter or something? The rolls look heavenly!
