Pro Tips and Timesaver Shortcuts

timesaving tips to streamline recipes

  • Use parchment paper to line your baking pans. It cuts down on the cleanup and cookies don’t stick to your pan.
  • Be sure to make the cookies the same size for easy baking.
  • Prepare the dry ingredients ahead of time and store them in a mason jar or zip bag.
  • Use room temperature eggs and butter for easy blending. Leave butter at room temperature for at least 15 minutes or place in the microwave for not more than 8 seconds.
  • The chocolate crinkle cookies will firm as they cool.
  • When baking batches of cookies, use completely cooled cookie sheets. Cookies will spread too much if put on a hot or warm cookie sheet.

Variations, Notes, and Substitutions

  • You can substitute unsweetened cocoa powder for the chocolate squares
  • You can make a chicken taco soup by substituting the bee with cooked chicken pieces.

Serving and Storage Suggestions

  • Serve with hot chocolate or milk or on a holiday cookie tray.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container.

Freezing Tips

  • Store baked cookies in the freezer in freezer bags, pushing the air out before sealing.
  • You can also freeze the dough before baking. Let thaw on the counter before baking.
