Saucy Pork Chops With Apricot Glaze

This Saucy Pork Chop Recipe is one of my favorites pork chop recipes. The addition of preserves makes a nice tangy sauce over the tender pork chops. 

I usually make pork chops at least twice a month and this is an easy and delicious recipe. stovetop Dijon pork chops or my brown sugar skillet pork chops.

Easily made on your stovetop, these are tender,  juicy pork chops.

Why Try This Recipe?

I call this my Saucy Pork Chop Recipe because, well, that is what it is. We are huge fans of pork chops and most of my stove-top pork chop recipes have a bit of spice and a bit of sauce.

I prefer this style over those with a crispy coating. This pork chop recipe has a nice caramelized coating with the help of a little apricot jam.

These are delicious and so easy!  The buttery-tangy pan sauce comes together in minutes and creates a tasty golden-brown crust with so much flavor. The whole family is sure to love this making it a great choice for a weeknight dinners.

Most of my pork chops recipes are stove-top recipes, like my Bourbon Pork Chops. Pork chops with a bourbon molasses glaze.We are a busy family and making pork chops on the stove makes for an easy dinner and easy cleanup.

Saucy Pork Chops Ingredients

  • olive oil
  • pork chops – you can use bone in pork chops or boneless pork chops. I like about a 1/3″ – 1/2″ thick chop
  • onions
  • garlic
  • orange juice
  • apricot preserves – this unexpected ingredient adds flavor and tanginess to the sauce recipe.

Equipment

  • large skillet
  • spatula
  • meat thermometer

How To Make Saucy & Juicy Pork Chops

Step 1 – Heat oil in skillet.Season pork chops with salt and pepper.
Add onions and garlic and pork chops to skillet.

Step 2 – Brown pork chops on medium heat. Turn pork chops to cook the second side until chops are golden brown.

Step 3 – Remove pork chops and add apricot preserves to pan with onions (or scallions) and garlic. Add orange juice and simmer until thickened (about 3-4 minutes).

Step 4 – Return pork chops to the skillet, turning to coat each side in the sauce; cook pork chops at a very low simmer for about 1 -2 minutes.

I love serving these with a little sauce on top, but you can spoon on less if desired. I love making these on the stovetop in about 30 minutes. They go well with potatoes or rice and a side salad.

Timesaving Tips

  • Heat the skillet over medium-high heat about a minute before adding the pork chops. A hot pan helps to create a nice sear on the outside of the chops.
  • When pan frying the chops, let them cook in the skillet without moving them for a few minutes to develop a golden crust on the outside.
  • Cooking time may vary depending on thickness of chops. Bone-in chops can take a little longer.
  • Pork chops should reach an internal temperature of 145° f.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 pork chops bone-in or boneless pork loin chops
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 tablespoons apricot preserves
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 5 green onions or scallions chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Season pork chops with salt and pepper.
  • Add onions and garlic and pork chops to skillet.
  • Brown both sides of pork chops, about 4-5 minutes each side or until no longer pink in the center.
  • Remove pork chops and add apricot preserves to pan with onions (or scallions) and garlic.
  • Add orange juice and cinnamon to skillet and simmer until thickened (about 3-4 minutes).
  • Return pork chops to the skillet, turning to coat each side in the sauce; cook 1 minute. Pork chops are done when a meat reaches an internal temp of 145°f .
  • Serve and spoon sauce over pork chops.

  6. What a brilliant idea, usually I pair pork chops up with apple sauce, however, my sons hate pork chops so I altogether stopped making them. I love them so I think I will make this saucy pork chop recipe up on a kid-free weekend for us adults!
