While this recipe takes a few spices, most of these are items you already have on hand.

Apple Sour Cream Muffin Ingredients

Apples – of course, they are the star of this show. This recipe works with many types of apples. I like to use Granny Smith apples or Gala apples for this recipe. But I encourage you to try with a different kind of apples.

Butter – Probably my favorite ingredient of all time.- LOL! But seriously, I always use real butter in my recipes, although I try to keep it to a minimum. Margarine will also work in this recipe just fine.

Sour cream – The sour cream makes these muffins moist and soft.

Variations on this recipe.

Nuts – You can easily add 1/2 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts to this recipe.

Equipement

  • large mixing bowl
  • prepared muffin cups with liners
  • wire rack

Muffins are amazing! Made them for a coworkers birthday and they were a hit. I used an empire apple and added a half-cup of toasted, chopped walnuts and substitute light sour cream (it was what I had on hand) and they turned out so good! Recipe is a keeper.

  4. 5 stars
Best apple muffins I’ve ever made! I subbed the butter in the muffins for apple sauce and they still turned out so good!

  5. I found these muffins on Pinterest and decided to give them a try to use up my leftover apples and I’m so glad I did! They’re really flavorful without being overpowering on the cinnamon or apple. My roommates and I love them and I can’t wait to share them at work!
