Budget Friendly These are so cost-effective to make. I often buy a package of crescent rolls when they are on sale and applesauce is pretty cheap too. These are a great way to use up leftover applesauce and literally cost only pennies to make.

A sunrise like this is a great way to start a new day, and soon, a new season. In the meantime, this is an updated Apple Cinnamon Rolls recipe from a few years ago but still is quick and easy with only 5 ingredients. It doesn't get much simpler than that.

Substitutions and Variations

Cinnamon Rolls and Apple Pie Filling - You can substitute the applesauce mixture with a can of apple pie filling from the grocery store.

Apple Butter Cinnamon Rolls - Similarly, you can use apple butter in place of the applesauce mixture.

Walnuts or No Nuts - You can sub walnuts for the pecans or omit the nuts altogether.

How to Make 5 Ingredient Cinnamon Rolls

Step 1 - Roll out the crescent roll on a cutting board or parchment paper.

I used the crescent roll dough as a base for the rolls.These Applesauce Cinnamon rolls only have 5 ingredients. They taste great and are ready in minutes!

Step 2 - Mix the brown sugar, applesauce and pecans in a small bowl. Spread over crescent roll dough.

Step 3 - Roll up the dough from the long side.

Step 4 - Slice into 2" rolls and place on baking sheet.

Step 5 - Bake and let cool. Prepare icing in a separate bowl.

¾ cup confectioner's sugar

2 tablespoons milk

Mix together in a small bowl.

Top rolls when slightly cool.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 package 8 pack crescent rolls
  • ¾ cup applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup brown sugar packed
  • ¼ cup crushed candied pecans

Instructions
 

  • Open the crescent rolls and spread out the dough on a cookie sheet.
  • Do not separate the rolls, keep it all together in one piece.
  • Mix applesauce, cinnamon and brown sugar in a bowl until blended.
  • Spoon the applesauce mixture in a thin layer on top of the rolls.
  • Top with crushed pecans
  • Bake on greased cookie sheet for  10 - 12 minutes.
  • While rolls cool, mix icing ingredients.
