- Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl
- Add eggs.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt and spices.
- Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until blended.
- Add nuts and raisins (if desired) and pour into prepared loaf pan.
