Honey and Walnut Coffee Cake

If you still have shopping to do, I have a great gift idea for your friends and family that love wine. This weekend I am hosting a small holiday gathering and I am giving my friends bottles of ChocolatRouge Chocolate Wine. I am also serving a chocolate wine dessert at the party.
By the way, ChocolatRouge is wonderful to enjoy while decorating and preparing for the party.
It is chocolate wine….yes I know….two amazing favorites in one. Yes, it tastes as good as it sounds. Heavenly!
I love the wonderful flavors of this full bodied wine. The subtle sweetness of red wine and dark chocolate flavors inspired me to make a dessert by soaking strawberries in the wine and serving over ice cream.
The recipe is really simple and amazingly delightful.
4 cups strawberries, cleaned and cut into bite sized pieces
2 tablespoons sugar
8 Scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream
Place the clean and trimmed strawberries in a bowl or container.
Add ChocoulatRouge Red Wine.
Cover and place in refrigerator for a couple of hours. Enjoy a glass while you decorate and the strawberries soak.
Pull out the ice cream and set out for a couple of minutes. Then pull the strawberry mixture from the refrigerator.
Scoop the ice cream into bowls and spoon strawberries over ice cream.
Spoon remaining ChocolatRouge sauce over strawberries.
Serve and enjoy the reaction!
Your friends will love this dessert. ChocolatRouge wine makes a great gift idea too. You can even attach this recipe to the bottle for gifting. That’s what I plan on doing. But my suggestion is to also buy a bottle for yourself for your next gathering, or when you are wrapping gifts, or just enjoying the season. This dessert is great for any party or gathering.
ChocolatRouge can be found at your local supermarket or on their website. I found mine in the dessert wine section. I used the Sweet Red Wine for this recipe.
These Pumpkin Blondie Bites are made from a recipe given to me by my dear friend Katia. Katia and I have a lot of fun when we get together to shop, eat or just catch up. I think our favorite thing is probably is hitting the outlet malls together (especially the shoe stores). But today’s post is about a fun pumpkin dessert that is easily made from a mix. You all know I I love pumpkin. Her daughter has food allergies, so she modifies ingredients for her. This recipe is for Blondie bars with a Pumpkin twist. It starts with a Trader Joe’s Blondie Bar mix.
1 package Blondie Bar Mix
1 egg (or egg substitute)
1 stick butter (or butter substitute)
1/2 15 oz can pumpkin
Hershey’s chocolate syrup
Prepare mix in a bowl with egg and butter. Since Katia’s daughter is allergic to eggs and dairy, Egg Replacer and Earth balance “buttery” stick bars were used as substitutes for the eggs and the butter.
Both of these substitutes work great in recipes.
Mix ingredients together and add half of a 15 oz can of Libby’s canned pumpkin.
Bake as directed in a 8 x 8 inch square pan.
Let cool and cut the bars into approximate 1″ squares and drizzle with Hershey’s chocolate sauce.
