Ingredients for Pico de Gallo with Avocado
Just a few simple ingredients are needed for this recipe. Refer to the recipe card for the measurements.
Roma Tomatoes. Seeded and diced fresh tomatoes. If you can't find Romas, other types of tomato fro the grocery store will work - cherry tomatoes too.
Sweet Red Onion. Chopped finely. Adds just the right amount of an oniony bite.You can use white onion in a pinch ,
Jalapeno. Jalapeno pepper should be seeded and chopped finely. If you don't want any heat at all you can leave this ingredient out and the pico will still turn out fine.
Avocado. Diced ripe avocado. I love how perfectly this fat balances out the dish.
Lime. For fresh lime juice.
Fresh Cilantro. Chopped. Adds so much brightness and freshness to the mix.
Salt. To taste.
Sugar. Just a pinch. This is optional.
- Chop avocado, tomatoes into small pieces.
- In a large or medium bowl, mix all of the ingredients together.

Use a handheld wooden juicer. This handy little tool makes it so much easier to get all the juice out of a lime or a lemon or an orange.
Freshly-squeezed lime juice helps keep the avocado from browning. It also adds much-needed flavor. It is not interchangeable with lemon for this recipe.
