Tips for the Best Results

  • Use lean ground beef or turkey to reduce the fat content of the taco cups.
  • For a low-carb option, substitute the wonton wrappers with almond flour tortillas or lettuce wraps.
  • Experiment with different fillings such as black beans, green chilies, or refried beans to add extra flavor and texture.
  • Bake on the middle rack for even crispines
  • Leftover taco meat can be used as a filling for these taco cups, providing a creative way to repurpose leftovers.
  • Taco cups will keep fresh in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat them in the oven or microwave for a quick and delicious snack.
  • Reheat leftovers at 350°F in the oven for 8–10 minutes for best crispiness.

Substitutions and Variations

  • Ground Chicken: Swap the ground beef or turkey with ground chicken for a lighter alternative.
  • Tortillas: If you can’t find wonton wrappers at your grocery store, you can use small flour or corn tortillas instead. If you use flour, simply cut them into smaller squares and press them into the muffin tin.
  • Crescent Dough: For a different twist, you can use crescent dough instead of wonton wrappers. Press small pieces of crescent dough into the muffin tin and fill them with the taco mixture.
  • Vegetarian Option: Skip the meat altogether and use a combination of sautéed vegetables like bell peppers, onions, and zucchini as the filling. Add some black beans or refried beans for extra protein.
  • Mexican Rice: Serve the taco cups with a side of Mexican rice to complete the meal and enhance the flavors.
  • Spice it up: If you prefer spicier tacos, add a dash of hot sauce or sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes into the meat mixture.

FAQs about Taco Cups Appetizer

Can I freeze taco cups?
