Made with just a few simple ingredients, this cozy winter drink is a good hot chocolate with a little alcohol. It is the perfect drink for a cold night or for enjoying a holiday movie together on the couch.

Ingredients For Spiked Hot Cocoa

This recipe only requires a handful of ingredients. 

White Chocolate Chips

Heavy Cream

Milk - I use whole milk for this recipe. I have not tried it with almond milk or lactose free milk.

White chocolate liqueur

Vanilla extract

How to Make Spiked Hot Chocolate

Step By Step Instructions

  1. In a crockpot, add in white chocolate chips and milk.
  2. Set crockpot to low and stir until white chocolate starts to melt.
  3. Once melting, add in heavy cream and vanilla extract.
  4. Stir and place on the lid.
  5. Allow to heat for 2 hours 30 minutes.
  6. Stir every 15-30 minutes so the chocolate won't stick to the bottom and burn.
  7. Once cook time is over, turn off the crockpot.
  8. For the white chocolate liqueur, you can add all 9oz. into the crockpot or add 1.5oz. to each individual serving.
  9. Pour into a mug and top with some whipped cream or ground cinnamon.
  10. Serve and enjoy!

Pro Tips and Timesaver Shortcuts

  • If you want to make this on your stovetop, just put ingredients into a medium saucepan on medium-low heat until chocolate chips are melted and the drink is hot.
  •  

Variations, Notes, and Substitutions

  • You can substitute coffee liqueur for the white chocolate liqueur
  • White Cocoa powder can be substituted for chocolate chips.
  • You can experiment with different types of alcohol with your favorite hot chocolate recipe. Try adding a chocolate liqueur or vanilla vodka.

Serving and Storing Suggestions

  • Top with whipped cream or mini marshmallows.
  • Serve with cinnamon sticks or candy canes
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container. I like to use freezer-safe plastic bags and then I have a meal that is ready to go,
