Soy Garlic Asian Chicken Wings.

The soy garlic glaze adds a tangy and flavorful twist with a little sweetness. Pair this with crispy wings that are tender on the inside and you've got a great appetizer.

Ingredients

This recipe only requires a few simple ingredients. 

  • wings (wingettes and drumettes)
  • light soy sauce
  • dark soy sauce
  • minced garlic
  • brown sugar  
  • green onion
  • Seasonings – Just your basic salt and black pepper, ground ginger and garlic powder.
  • cooking oil - Use one with a high smoke point such as peanut oil or canola oil.

  • large mixing bowl
  • pair of tongs
  • cooking thermometer
  • baking sheet
  • wire rack
  • paper towel
  • Deep fryer (or air fryer see directions below)

How to Make Soy Garlic Chicken Wings

Step By Step Instructions

 
  1. Pour oil into fryer.
  2. Bring oil to 350 degrees F. Make sure wings are fully defrosted.
  3. Rinse wings and pat with paper towels until completely dry.
  4. Carefully place wings into the basket and lower into the cooker.
  5. Cook until golden or desired crispiness.
  6. Remove wings and place on paper towels on a wire rack drain excess oil.
  7. In a saucepan over low heat,  mix together soy sauces, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, garlic powder, pepper and cornstarch.
  8. Heat the sauce on low until it comes to a boil and thicks. Turn off heat.
  9. Place wings in a bowl and add the sauce. Toss well. Add in diced green onion and toss well. Serve.

  • Use an oil with a high cooking point. Peanut oil is a great choice for frying chicken
  • Once the oil reaches the required temperature, add the chicken wings to it carefully using tongs.
  • Wings are done when they reach and internal temperature of 165°f.  
  • The garlic marinade is great for marinading chicken breasts too.

  • If you don't have fresh garlic, you can substitute garlic powder

  • Serve with carrot sticks and celery sticks. These wings also go great with buffalo sauce or ranch dressing. 
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Can I make wings in the air fryer?

Yes, you can! 

  1. Dry the wings with paper towels.
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 375 f.
  3. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray
  4. Cook for 12 minutes, then turn over the wings with tongs and cook for 12 minutes more.
  5.  Increase the temperature to 400 degrees and cook 3-4 minutes.

Can I bake the chicken wings?

Yes, you can!

Chicken wings should be baked in the oven for about 45 minutes at 400˚F until they are crispy and golden brown.

Ingredients
  

  • lb bag wings wingettes and drumettes
  • ½ cup light soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons garlic

  • Oil for frying

Instructions
 

  • Pour oil into outdoor fryer. Bring oil to 350 degrees F.
  • Make sure wings are fully defrosted.
  • Rinse wings and pat with paper towels until completely dry.
  • Carefully place wings into the basket and lower into the cooker. Cook until golden or desired crispiness.
  • Remove from pot and drain excess oil.
  • In a saucepan on the stove over mediumm-low heat, mix together honey garlic sauce ingredients: soy sauces, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, pepper and cornstarch.
  • Heat the sauce on low-medium heat until it comes to a boil and thickens. Turn off heat.
  • Place wings in a bowl and add the sauce. Toss well.
  • Add in diced green onion and toss well. Serve.
