This recipe only requires a few ingredients. 

Cauliflower – Use fresh cauliflower with no dark spots

Broccoli – Pick fresh broccoli or broccoli florets

Lemon – use a fresh lemon, never bottled

Thyme leaves 

Butter – I always prefer real butter, but you can substitute margarine if that is all you have.

How to Cook Broccoli and Cauliflower On The Stove

Step by Step Instructions

  1. Fill a stockpot with 8 to 10 cups of water. Place stockpot over high heat and add 1 teaspoon salt. Bring the water to boil. Add the cauliflower and boil for 2 minutes. Then, add the broccoli and continue boiling for 3 minutes. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, add butter, chives, thyme, lemon peel, salt, and pepper.
  2. Using a spoon or fork, mash together ingredients.
  3. Drain broccoli and cauliflower.
  4. Mix the herb butter into the vegetables until melted.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups fresh cauliflower florets
  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 3 tablespoons butter softened
  • 3 tablespoons snipped fresh chives
  • 1 ½ teaspoons chopped fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 ¼ teaspoon salt divided
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper

Instructions
