Why this recipe

This cocoa takes your favorite original hazelnut spread to the next level. The cocoa is creamy and packed with chocolatey goodness. Plus, it's a fun way to use Nutella. You know I love using Nutella in my Nutella Stuffed cookies and my easy mug cake, and this is another great recipe.

The holiday season is approaching, and this cocoa made with Nutella hazelnut spread is perfect for sipping on snowy days and nights. Plus, it's super easy to make and perfect for serving a crowd.

I am sharing instructions on how to make it on the stove top as well as a crock pot or slow cooker.

Ingredients for Nutella Cocoa

  • Milk - I highly suggest using whole milk so that it is very creamy.
  • Chocolate chips - milk chocolate chips work best for this recipe.
  • Nutella - make sure to use the Nutella brand and not a store-brand version.
  • Cocoa powder - a high-quality brand will be best for this recipe.
  • Vanilla extract - real vanilla extract works best, but you can also use imitation.
  • Whipped cream - use plain or your favorite flavor. Extra creamy if available.
  • Marshmallows - mini marshmallows work great in this cocoa.

Tips for best results

  • If spiking the cocoa, add a shot to individual mugs vs. the entire mixture.
  • Melt down some Nutella, add to a piping bag, and drizzle over whipped cream or shave some chocolate and add it to the top.
  • Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice for added flavor.
  • If you'd like it extra creamy, try adding half cream and half milk.
  • Look out for special promotions like promotional emails and coupons via text messages, newspaper, or directly on the actual product around the holiday season so you can stock up!
  • If you have any specific allergies, be sure to check the product packaging to read the allergen content before making this recipe.
