After releasing our popular Hot Vanilla Milk and other hot chocolate recipes, I received emails asking if I had a slow cooker recipe. Today’s Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate recipe is in response to those looking for a slow cooker recipe.

This hot cocoa recipe is my favorite way to make hot chocolate for a crowd. It is perfect to prepare on Christmas morning as this recipe makes enough for 8. You can easily double it for a larger crowd. 

This creamy hot chocolate makes a great base for a hot chocolate bar too! You can top it with many things.

This recipe is super easy! Just a few ingredients which is so appreciated during the holiday season.

Heavy Cream –I recommend using half and half or heavy cream for the richest hot chocolate. The milk in this recipe will cut through the heaviness of cream for a nice, balanced cup of cocoa and v

Candy Bars– Milk chocolate bars work best for this recipe. They add a deep chocolatey flavor to the hot chocolate.

Marshmallows – Use mini marshmallows or whipped topping for this recipe

How to  make Crock pot Hot Chocolate 

The full recipe is below, but the basic steps are:

  1. Gather ingredients and break up the chocolate pars.
  2. Warm the milk and vanilla.
  3. Add the chocolate mix and candy bars.
  4. Stir well with a whisk.
  5. Cook on low setting for 2 hours, stirring occaisionally.
  6. Serve in mugs, then garnish the top of the hot chocolate with marshmallows.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups whole milk or milk of your choice
  • 1 cup half and half or heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cup hot chocolate mix homemade or store bought.
  • 2 milk chocolate bars

Toppings

  • Marshmallows whipped cream, chocolate syrup, caramel syrup, peppermint pieces, etc

Instructions
 

  • In a large slow cooker combine milk, heavy cream and vanilla
  • Add hot chocolate mix
  • Break chocolate bars into pieces and add on top of mix
  • Whisk until well combined
  • Cover and set slow cooker to low for 2 hours or until warm, stir occasionally
