This month’s Degusta Box had some marvelous treats. I am an affiliate for Degusta Box because I love discovering new products. I do not have time to shop for these items and love that they are delivered to my door each month.
My favorite items were the Hippeas Organic Chickpea Puffs. Think of your childhood puff treats made organically. These are so good and I love that they come in individual bags. They also give back to a worthy cause for every bag they sell. I have seen these around town but had not tried them before. I am warning you they are addicting.
Bauducco Chocolate Wafers. Such chocolate cookie goodness that go perfectly with a hot cup of coffee or Hot Vanilla Milk. They are also perfect for an afternoon tea!
If you have not heard of Degusta Box, check out my post about this tasty subscription service here. On to the cleaning tips.
7 great fall cleaning tips for your home
The colder season is coming. Many people spend a lot of time indoors, sheltering themselves from the cold. Because of this, I believe it is important to have a home that is clean and comfortable. Now is the perfect time to do a little extra cleaning since it is also nearly the season for celebrating with friends and family Today I am sharing my fall cleaning tips.
Kitchen cleaning
We spend a lot of time here and yet we neglect this place the most. If not well checked, the kitchen can be a hub of food, germs, and grease. When cleaning the kitchen, look for spots you don’t usually clean every day. These are areas we commonly neglect. It also helps to do a thorough cleaning of all your major appliances in the kitchen. Refrigerator, dishwasher, stove and other appliances are likely in need of some upkeep. A well-cleaned kitchen will smell great and enable you to survive through the cold season without any worry.
This is also a great time to clean out your pantry. Throw out expired items and check your spices before baking season.
Clean and organize your garage
This is another place we tend to neglect a lot. In many homes, the garage is used to store so much stuff that it’s rare to find a practical garage that is not disorganized. Summer clothing, beach gear, hiking boots and such need to be stored away for a few months. You might also need to retrieve the heavy winter jackets, coats and other items from the garage. If not systemized, you could easily pile up junk in your garage. Use racks and lidded boxes to increase storage space.
Dust and Vacuum
During the summer, our houses are open and welcoming. Sometimes a little too welcoming and dust and debris find its way in. During winter, we will be having the houses under lock most of the time. Now is the time to try to get rid of pollen material and dust from our homes. Carpets trap dust and other particles and should be steam cleaned and vacuumed thoroughly.
Prep those Chimneys
If you have a wood fireplace, accumulated soot in the chimneys could be a ground for disaster. You should always ensure that the chimney is clean before the cold season starts. You will be using the chimney a lot when warming the house.
Clean your bed frames and mattresses
Bedding linens and covers should also be cleaned out. This applies mainly to the mattress covers, blankets and mattresses. Vacuum the mattress and leave it to dry completely. Try to ensure that the bedding are completely dust-free. Dust bed frames and headboards as dust tends to collect there during the warmer months.
Wash the windows and clean the gutters
When gutters get clogged, you could be entertaining disaster in your house. Get rid of all the debris clogging the gutters and cleaning windows and screens, will help to get rid of dust accumulating on them. You can use a leaf blower, hop onto a ladder (safely) and do it yourself, or hire the services of professionals.
Get help if necessary
Sometimes we might feel overwhelmed by the amount of cleaning we need to do in our homes. If you do not have the time, consider hiring the services of a professional to help you. Once you have prepared your home for fall, you can really enjoy the upcoming holiday season.

It’s funny how it really is an adult chore to prep the chimneys, but the kids think we are doing it for Santa Claus!
I got those chickpea snacks at an event last year, and I love them. I always buy them when I see them
