  • beef bouillon – I like to use a low sodium or sodium-free brand
  • onion powder
  • celery seed
  • garlic powder – my choice is the Simply Organic garlic powder
  • pepper
  • sea salt

Substitutions and Variations

  • Hearty onion flavor – add 1/2 teaspoon onion powder to the mix.
  • Deluxe – add some dried minced garlic for a stronger flavor combination.

Serving and Storage Suggestions

Mix 2 tablespoons french onion dip mix with 1 cup sour cream (or greek yogurt) for a great dip.Serve this yummy dip with potato chips, fresh vegetables or pita chips. 3 to 1 ratio of store brand.

To make soup: Place this mix into medium saucepan. Stir in 4 cups water and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes.

Store homemade onion dip in airtight containers (such as mason jars) or Ziploc bags at room temperature. Good for 3-4 days.

Add 2 Tablespoons dip mix with 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce and 1 tablespoon soy sauce for a great meat marinade.

  • 1.5 tbsp beef bouillon
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • tsp celery seed
  • tsp garlic powder
  • tsp pepper
