This is my take on a classic chicken noodle casserole. On a cold evening, a hot and steaming casserole is just the right dinner idea to enjoy with the family.
This old fashioned chicken with noodles casserole is easy to prepare with simple ingredients, You can make this casserole in the morning or the day before you plan to serve it.
This easy dinner recipe is very economical to make. I often find a box of egg noodles on sale for less than a dollar. It's also a great way to use up leftover chicken.
Did I mention that this casserole is tasty too? Chicken and noodles are nestled in a flavorful and creamy sauce are cheap and easy for busy nights.
Ingredients for Chicken Casserole with Egg Noodles
- egg noodles - use the wide egg noodles.
- cooked chicken - used cooked chicken breast or chicken tenders. You can use rotisserie chicken.
- cream of chicken soup
- sour cream
- Cheddar cheese
- vegetables - use your favorite frozen veggies variety. I use whatever I have on hand.
- bread crumbs - you can use plain or bread crumbs with Italian seasoning.
- seasonings - salt, black pepper, garlic powder, garlic salt, onion powder, thyme

Step-By-Step Instructions

- Preheat oven and prepare a baking dish.
- Cook egg noodles on the stovetop according to package directions. When pasta is al dente, drain and set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix
- Spread mixture evenly in a baking dish.
- Melt butter and mix butter and bread crumbs together in a small bowl.
- Sprinkle the top of the casserole with buttered bread crumbs.
- Bake in the oven.

- 3 cups egg noodles, uncooked
- 2 cups cooked chicken
- 1 10 0z. can cream of chicken soup
- ½ cup sour cream
- ¾ cup Cheddar cheese
- 1 cup frozen vegetables .
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon thyme
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic salt
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 pinch black pepper
- 2 tablespoons bread crumbs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees f, and grease a 9" x 13"baking dish with butter or cooking spray..
- Cook egg noodles on the stovetop according to package directions. When pasta is al dente, drain and set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix together all remaining ingredients EXCEPT the bread crumbs.
- Add cooked drained noodles to the mixture and blend.
- Spread mixture evenly into prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle the top of the casserole with buttered bread crumbs.
- Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes until center is heated through.
