  • Sweetened condensed milk
  • Cherry pie filling
  • Crushed pineapple - make sure it is drained.
  • Mini marshmallows - you can use the white ones or colorful ones.
  • Shredded coconut - unsweetened works the best.

Equipment and kitchen tools

  • Mixing bowl
  • Serving dish (optional)

How to make cherry salad

Step 1 -In a large bowl, add sweetened condensed milk.

Step 2 - Add the cherry pie filling, and drained crushed pineapple.

Step 2 -Add the Cool Whip and fold gently.

Stir the ingredients together until well mixed, ensuring that the cherry mixture is evenly distributed.

Step 4

Gently fold in the mini marshmallows and shredded coconut. This will add texture and a delightful sweetness to the salad.

Once all the ingredients are thoroughly combined, cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the cherry fluff salad to an airtight container.

Refrigerate the salad for at least one hour to allow the flavors to meld together and to achieve the perfect chilled and fluffy consistency.

When ready to serve, give the salad a good stir to ensure all the flavors are evenly distributed. Spoon into serving dishes or onto a platter.

Garnish with additional shredded coconut, maraschino cherries, or fresh cherries if desired.

Tips for the Best Results

  • Fresh cherries can be used instead of canned cherry pie filling for a more natural and fruity taste. Simply pit and chop the cherries before adding them to the salad.
  • Leftover pineapple juice can be reserved and used in other recipes or enjoyed as a refreshing drink.
  • To add a twist to the traditional recipe, try substituting strawberry pie filling for cherry pie filling. This variation will provide a burst of strawberry flavor and a lovely pastel color.

Substitutions and Variations

  • Instead of crushed pineapple, you can use pineapple chunks for a chunkier texture and more pronounced pineapple flavor.
  • If you're not a fan of coconut, you can omit it from the recipe or replace it with chopped nuts like almonds or pecans for added crunch.
  • For a more tart flavor, you can use chunky tart cherries in place of the cherry pie filling. This variation will add a delightful tanginess to the salad.
  • If you're looking for a lower-calorie version, opt for sugar-free or light cherry pie filling and use light whipped topping instead of Cool Whip.
