Pro Tips and Timesaver Shortcuts
- Use softened butter for easy blending. Leave butter at room temperature for at least 15 minutes or place in the microwave for not more than a few seconds.
- Make the sugar cookie dough ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator. You can use it to quickly make this recipe, just let the dough soften before piping,
Variations, Notes, and Substitutions
- You can substitute white chocolate chips for the candy melts and top with black confetti sprinkles for a cool black and white theme.
- Vanilla extract can be substituted with peppermint, rum, coconut, or any other flavor extract
- If you have leftover candy melts, make some festive covered pretzels with the same sprinkles. This looks great on a dessert bar.
Serving and Storage Suggestions
- Serve on a cookie plate or tiered tray. These also look great on a dessert bar.
