On hot summer days, Watermelon Agua Fresca can be so incredibly refreshing and thirst-quenching. A favorite in our house this time of year, its slightly sweet flavor and delicious taste is always welcomed. When the humidity levels rise, we step up our liquid intake and look for fruit-filled refreshment and who doesn't love the benefits of fresh watermelon?
What is Aqua Fresca?
Aqua Fresca, translates to "Cool Water" in Spanish. It is made always with fresh fruit and a little bit of sweetener. My dear grandmother used to make the fresca for us when we visited her home.
You may see fresh agua frescas at festivals and sporting events because it really quenches your thirst when you have been out in the sun. These drinks are very popular in Mexico and are made in so many different flavors.
Agua Fresca is also incredibly easy to make. Honestly, I believe the most time-consuming part of the process is cutting up the watermelon to make the watermelon juice.
You do need a blender or juicer to make the watermelon juice, but it is so good and takes only seconds to make. It is best if your watermelon has been chilled for an hour, but it is not necessary.

This is also a great way to use up leftover watermelon when you have some leftover watermelon from a barbecue or dinner. It is so refreshing and barely sweet so you feel like your thirst is quenched. When was the last time you had watermelon in your refrigerator?
Jean
I was just wondering what I was going to do with the leftover watermelon in the fridge! This sounds perfect for a hot, summer day.

It's really great Jean! I think your son would love it too if he likes watermelon - it works with cantaloupe and honeydew too!

Tamara
That looks sooo good. I love watermelon but I've never had it in drink form, if you can believe that. I think it's time to change that. Love the bit of lime.
Raquel
It's very refreshing and so natural. I hope you try it Tamara!
