This time of year, many are starting their first year of college. While it has been a long while since I attended, I wanted to share some tips for staying organized in college.

Staying organized can be hard for some people in college. It’s hard to balance a ton of classes, homework, a social life, and work on top of all of that. If you are a college student, you don’t want to start off disorganized. Here are 7 ways you can stay organized.

Staying organized in college can be a challenge. Check out these seven tips to help you stay focused and productive while enjoying the experience.7 Tips for Staying Organized in College

Invest in a good calendar or planner- When it comes to being organized in college, you really need to invest in a good paper calendar. Make it a big one so you can see if every time you wake up! Part of being organized is making sure you get to all of your appointments on time and that you meet all of your deadlines. If you just cannot deal with a paper planner, then invest in a planning app for your phone.

Schedule things- Hey, you may be in college, but scheduling isn’t just for old people. Scheduling helps you become a responsible adult. Scheduling things not only helps you stay organized, but it can truly help save your sanity. When you’re in college, you are bound to run into dozens of things you need to do on a daily basis, but it is easy to forget them if you do not schedule them out. You’ll find that scheduling things like “doing homework” and “studying” can actually make you very happy!

Don’t let things get out of hand- Also known as procrastination. When you procrastinate and don’t get things done, it basically sets off a Domino effect of things getting out of hand. When your laundry is full wash it, when you have homework do it, you get the idea! The same applies to your social schedule. While it may sound fun to attend the many events that take place during the year, don't over-commit yourself socially. Pick a few things to be involved in and know you can always pursue others in future years.

Set deadlines for yourself- When it comes to college, you will have tons of deadlines to keep track of. However, there are some things that you will not have deadlines for. You will be responsible for making sure you get these things done. You will stay more organized in college if you can set deadlines for yourself and actually meet those deadlines.

Label things- You are going to love this tip for staying organized in college. Labeling things will literally save your life. You will want to label things just for the heck of it if you have a roommate. But also, labeling things that pertain to your classes will help you stay organized as well.

Spend time getting organized- It’s easy to get overwhelmed while you are in college, which is why you may reach a point of “not caring.” I encourage you to take some time off each week from work and school and just focus on getting everything together. If you don’t make time to get organized, it may never happen! Keep important reminders in your phone and on a bulletin board.

Go to bed on time and get up at the same time- It’s easy to get unorganized when you’re always in a hurry. Make an effort to go to bed on time and get up at the same time every day! This will help you get into a routine and if you are in a routine, you are more likely to stay organized. The more organized you are, the less stress you will have.

When it comes to staying organized in college, don’t be afraid to use these tips. Do you have any tips to share? I’d love to hear them! Know someone who can use these tips? Send this to them or pin it for later.

Oh boy - it makes me think of college almost fondly. I went crazy with labels.
And I didn't let things get out of hand.. although maybe a bit senior year. That wasn't fun!

Isn't it crazy how fast time goes? Sometimes I wish I could slow down time just a bit.
