Time Saving Tips
- Use crock pot cooking liners for easy clean up. They seriously cut down on cleaning time.
- Place the chicken breasts at the bottom of the crock pot so they stay juicy and cook evenly.
- Whisk the heavy cream and corn starch in a small bowl to create a smooth cornstarch slurry before adding it.
- Add the potato gnocchi during the last hour so the pillowy gnocchi holds its shape.
Substitutions and variations
- Skinless chicken thighs work well and bring extra richness.
- Use homemade Italian seasoning in place of the dried herbs.
- Garlic powder may stand in for minced garlic in a pinch.
- Homemade gnocchi can replace store brand gnocchi from the grocery store.
- A stove top version works too and cooks in about 15 to 20 minutes for faster soup recipes.
