Ingredients For Rice Krispie Reindeer Treats

This recipe only requires a few ingredients. Christmas Krispie Treats ingredients Butter  - You can use margarine instead if that is what you have on hand. Cereal - You will want to use a puffed rice cereal Marshmallows –  About 40 large marshmallows. Pretzels. I use mini sized pretzels Candies - I used red m&m's Candy Eyes

  • large pot or large saucepan
  • spatula or spoon
  • large cutting board
  • large sharp knife
  • baking pan
  • wax paper or parchment paper
  • popsicle stick or lollipop sticks

How to Make Reindeer Christmas Rice Krispie Treats

Step By Step Instructions

Prepare Rice Krispie Treats

  1. Spray a baking pan with nonstick cooking spray or coat with a thin layer of butter.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Add the marshmallows and stir until marshmallow mixture is blended.
  4. Remove from heat and gradually add rice cereal.
  5. Spread rice cereal mixture in an even layer into a prepared baking pan.
  6. Using a buttered spatula or wax paper spread rice cereal mixture in an even layer into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray.
  7. Let mixture set. Cut into bars (4 rows across and 4 rows up) about using a knife.

Prepare for Chocolate Coating and Decorating

  1. In a medium microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips uncovered on Medium (50%) 2 minutes, stirring once, until softened and chips can be stirred smooth.
  2. Stir until all chips are melted
  3. Dip the end of a popsicle stick or lollipop stick in melted chocolate.
  4. Insert stick in a treat.
  5. Dip into melted chocolate. Use a butter knife to spread the chocolate over bars evenly. You can do this for pretzels too if you like.
  6. Decorate with eyes and a red nose and let set.
How to Make Christmas Krispie Treats

Pro Tips and Timesaver Shortcuts

  • You can make these treats by using store-bought Rice Krispie treats. All you do is unwrap them and then cover them with chocolate and decorate.
  • You can use a square cookie cutter or a pastry scraper for quick cutting.
  • The number of treats depends on several factors - how large you cut homemade treats if you use storebought ready-made treats. The photos here are made with ready-made treats which are smaller in size. You can make about 18 treats if you make them homemade.

Variations, Notes, and Substitutions

  • Four cups of mini marshmallows can substitute for large marshmallows.
  • For best results, use fresh marshmallows.
  • 1 jar (7 oz.) marshmallow crème can be substituted for marshmallows
  • You can use white chocolate-covered mini pretzels to change up the reindeers.

Serving and Storage Suggestions

  • Store at room temperature in an airtight container.
  • These look really cute in a styrofoam holder or in mason jars on your dessert table.
Wrap the reindeer in cellophane bags for a fun takeaway party favor. They would also look cute on a cupcake or at a place setting. See below.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 4 cups marshmallows
  • 6 cups rice krispie cereal
  • Candy eyes
  • 32 small pretzels
  • 16 Red coated chocolate candies Red
  • 32 candy eyes

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the rice krispie treats.
  • Melt the chocolate according to package instructions.
  • Stir until chips are completely dissolved.
  • Dip the tip of popsicle sticks into the chocolate and then into all of the treats.
  • All to set for about 4-5 mins.
  • Dip the treats into the chocolate mixture
  • Shake off excess and use a n=knife to cover treat.
  • Set treats on parchment paper.
  • Add eyes and nose then the ears.
  • Let set an hour or two before serving. Chocolate should be completely set before packaging.
