Timesaving tips

  • Use a microwave-safe mug that is large enough to accommodate the cake batter. The mug should be at least 12-ounce capacity to prevent overflow during baking.
  • If you can, use a larger mug or place a microwave-safe plate underneath the mug to catch any potential spills in case of overflow.
  • Let the mug cake cool for a minute or two before eating. It will be very hot right out of the microwave.
  • In a pinch, you can use pumpkin pie filling in place of the pumpkin purée.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container.

  1. So easy!! I will do this.
I’m a big pumpkin fan, as you know, but I really like pumpkin itself. I can totally eat it nearly raw, or out of the can. Without anything added!
So the cake would just make it even better.

  2. I love the look of this, but will need to adapt the recipe as we don’t usually have canned pumpkin here in the UK. Can I check the amount of sugar used is correct – it sounds high for one portion.

    1. Yes, the amount is correct. It is a little high, but you could reduce and use a sweeter frosting. I just used whipped cream and wanted the cake a little sweeter. I hope you like it!

  3. 5 stars
I could eat pumpkin desserts year round. The perfect mug dessert for an after dinner treat.
