Timesaving Tips for this Classic Recipe

  • Use chilled club soda, so that the soda won’t cause the ice cream to melt too quickly.
  • Use a tall glass that can hold the soda and ice cream, leaving room for foam and whipped cream on top.
  • Pour in the soda slowly so that it does not overflow.
  • Don’t forget the whipped cream and a cherry. A classic old fashioned ice cream soda ALWAYS has whipped cream and a cherry!
  • Seltzer water can be subbed for club soda.

By following these tips, you can create a delicious and refreshing ice cream soda that is cold, creamy and full of flavor, without feeling heavy like a malt.

Like my Strawberry Shortcake Milkshake, and my Caramel Milkshake, it is a wonderful cold treat for the hot days of summer.
