Ingredients for Christmas Fudge

Just a few simple ingredients are needed for this recipe. Refer to the recipe card for the measurements.

Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips. For just the right balance between milk chocolate and dark chocolate.

Sweetened Condensed Milk. This comes in a can. Don’t confuse it with evaporated milk because they are not the same thing.

How to Make Christmas Fudge

This is the easiest fudge recipe!

The full recipe instructions for this copycat recipe are in the recipe card, below but here is a step by step overview.

To a double boiler (or set up a double boiler with boiling water in a pot with a heat safe glass bowl, like pyrex, on top), add chocolate chips.

Add sweetened condensed milk and heat until melted. As the mixture starts to melt, stir in vanilla.

This mixture will go from melting to starting to solidify pretty quickly, so once the chocolate chips are mostly melted, immediately pour the mixture into your prepared 8×8 baking dish.

Smooth the fudge mixture out, then sprinkle the top of the fudge with Christmas sprinkles. Cover the fudge with foil or plastic wrap and move to the refrigerator to set.

Allow the fudge to chill for about 4 hours, then cut into small squares

Recipe FAQs

How far in advance can I make my fudge for Christmas?

Fudge can be made and kept chilled for several weeks. Make up a batch Thanksgiving weekend and it will keep until it is consumed. Store it in an airtight container or freezer-quality plastic zipper bag. It will dry out over time but still taste good, so if you are making it for a party and want it to look good make it only a few days in advance.

Fudge can be frozen, but it will dry out and become crumbly. The texture will change. Store it in an airtight container for best results.

What is the best way to gift homemade Christmas fudge?

Find cute giftable containers to store the fudge in. If the containers are not airtight, wrap the fudge in plastic wrap to help keep it from drying out and deliver it to your friends and neighbors immediately. Take-along airtight containers from Rubbermaid or disposable plastic containers with holiday graphics are both good choices. You can dress these plastic containers up with tissue paper lining the container.

Tips for Best Results

This Christmas fudge recipe is very rich, but delicious. Cut small squares, less than an inch in size.

You can use waxed paper in place of parchment paper. This saves on cleaning time of your pan and makes for easy serving.

Serve fudge at room temperature.

This is a very basic fudge with just three easy ingredients.
