We used to make these on Halloween weekend with the kids. They helped make these and they loved how fun these rolls were. I love recipes like this because they’re more about the decorating than the baking.

The oven does the work, and then everyone gets to create their own creepy-crawly spider. No special skills required!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Only 3 ingredients – It doesn’t get much easier that this and everything you need is easy to find at the grocery store.
  • Ready in about 30 minutes perfect for a Halloween brunch, or a last-minute party treat.
  • Kid-friendly fun – little hands can help draw the webs and place the eyes, making this a great Halloween activity.

Ingredients

Spider Cinnamon Rolls Ingredients
  • Refrigerated Cinnamon Rolls with Icing – The refrigerated can makes this recipe so simple. One can bakes up 8 soft, gooey cinnamon rolls, which is the perfect base for your spiders.
  • Halloween Black Cookie Icing – Look for the squeeze bottles of cookie icing in the baking aisle or Halloween seasonal section. The fine tip makes it easy to pipe thin spider web lines.
  • Candy Eyes – These little candy eyeballs bring your spiders to life! You’ll need 2 eyes per cinnamon roll. Find them in the baking aisle or at craft stores.

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Wire cooling rack (optional)

Substitutions and Variations

  • Use the included icing too – Spread a thin layer of the white icing from the can on the cooled rolls first, then pipe the black web on top. The white-and-black contrast makes the web really pop. Drag a toothpick from the center outward through the black lines for a classic web effect.
  • Add spider legs – Use black licorice strings or pretzel sticks dipped in chocolate to give your spiders 8 legs..

Time Saving Tips ⏰

  • Bake ahead – Bake the cinnamon rolls the night before, let them cool completely, and store them covered. In the morning, all you have to do is decorate!
  • Set up a decorating station. Lay out the icing and candy eyes so everyone can decorate their own spider at the same time.
  • Don’t skip the cooling as it is important. Waiting a few minutes saves you from melted, runny webs and having to start over.

Serving Suggestions

These Spider Cinnamon Rolls are perfect for a Halloween breakfast or brunch. Serve them with:

  • Fresh fruit, like orange slices or clementines
  • Scrambled eggs or a breakfast casserole

They’re also a fun addition to a Halloween party table, classroom party, or a spooky movie night!

Storage and Reheating

To store: Keep leftover cinnamon rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

To reheat: Warm in the microwave for 10–15 seconds. Keep in mind that the icing may soften and the candy eyes may slide a bit when warmed, so these are best enjoyed the day they’re decorated.
