How to Make Halloween Mummy Dogs

Step 1 – Prepare Crescent Dough

Heat oven and prepare baking sheet. Roll out the crescent dough, on prepared a work surface. Divide the dough into 8 thin strips, width-wise. We did this by dividing in half, half again, and half again.

Step 2 – Wrap dough around hot dogs

Take the strips of crust dough, and wrap the strips of dough around each hot dog to create bandages around the mummy. Repeat for all.

Step 3 – Bake the Hot Dogs in the oven

Place mummies on prepared baking sheet. Bake in the oven until the mummy hotdogs are a light golden brown.

Step 5- Attach the “eyes”

Attach the candy eyeballs with a little mustard or ketchup. If you wish, you can add a ketchup mouth to the mummy’s face.

Substitutions & Variations

  • You can use beef hot dogs or turkey dogs.
  • You can make mini mummy dogs with the mini hot dogs.
  • String Cheese or American cheese can be added – just add a thin slice either to the back of the hot dog before wrapping.

Yes but be sure to thaw dough per package directions. Also bake at 400 degrees f per package directions.

It is not recommended as the dough should be baked as soon as possible.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 13.8 oz. can crescent dough
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 16 Candy eyeballs
  • Mustard for serving
  • Ketchup for serving

Instructions
 

  • Roll out the crescent dough, and lay out onto a flat surface like a cutting board. Cut off the uneven ends to make two even ends on both sides. Divide the crescent dough into 8 equal pieces of dough, width-wise. We did this by dividing in half, half again, and half again.
  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Take the strips of crust dough, and wrap one piece around each hot dog to create the mummy.
  • Lay the wrapped hot dogs onto the prepared parchment paper.
  • Bake 14 – 16 minutes until mummy dough is golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
  • To attach the candy eyeballs, dab a bit of mustard onto the backs and place them onto the dogs. It can be helpful to tuck them into the wrapped dough.
  • If desired, brush with melted butter before serving. Also serve with ketchup and mustard.
