If you follow my blog, you may already know that I am a member of Generation Fabulous - a great online group of women who are part of a generation that, while some like to think of as midlife, I like to think of as Not So Baby Boomers. This month, we were given the topic of aging gracefully, so here is my perspective.
I think that aging gracefully is not just a matter of accepting the aging process, but a state of mind, body and spirit. Let me explain.
Mind - Less than a year ago, I decided to start this blog, Organized Island. Through this endeavor, I have exposed myself to a whole new world of subjects including topics such as social media, search engine optimization, HTML, photo editing, writing and blogging communities. All that I have learned has been challenging and invigorating albeit, frustrating at times. I believe that one should never stop learning as long as we are living.
Body - I would be lying if I said that each new wrinkle was a gift. In fact, my usual reaction is where the hell did that come from? But I do swear by a few good habits that I have made through most of my life including taking vitamins, drinking lots of wine beer cocktails water, incorporating exercise into my life and using lots of sunscreen and moisturizer.
Spirit - Attitude and Gratitude is so important. I embrace the inner child that is still within me. I begin every morning by reflecting on the positives that are in my life. Yes, challenges are a part of life, but I am stronger as a result of the struggles I have overcome. Each day has positives in it if you look closely.
So that is my take on aging gracefully. My passion for life and the wonderful blessings in it allow the attitude of joie de vivre in my mind, body and spirit.

I honestly feel as if our bodies age but our minds still think we're young at heart, always 😉 Even at my age i'm beginning to feel things I never have at a moment notice. Things I didn't have to worry about are now front and center.
But, in the end, I think as we age, aging gracefully is accepting the process and still loving ourselves through it all. Did that make since? lol
Organizedisland
Yes, I will always be young at heart too Jamie! I totally get what you are saying 🙂

The mind-body-spirit breakdown is a clever, insightful and manageable way to approach the topic. It's a good reminder to look at all three. I often go full speed ahead on one area at a time, and then I get all wonky and out of balance. Thanks for the reminder to pursue balance!
Raquel
Yes, it can be work to get back in balance sometimes. Thanks for stopping by Karen!

Totally agree that it's a state of mind, body and spirit -- and hopefully the positive thoughts and attitude will be more powerful than the imperfections of the body!
Raquel
Yes let's hope! Darn gravity makes it hard sometimes.

Learning new things is so important. I think that is why I like non-fiction more and more with each passing year. There are so many things to learn!

Oh and I love books, I cannot wait to retire so that I will have more time to read. Thanks for stopping by Ginger!

Love that you break this down into mind, body and spirit. Too often we'll focus on one and forget another area.

I never thought of aging. Didnt give it a minutes time of thought. And today I am 50 and to tell you the truth it scares the heck out of me and I havent gotten to the graceful part yet. But I read, I search and I listen. I also know and understand its inevitable and no matter how much I want to ignore it, it is only getting worse. So I will find that gracefullness and acceptance but in the interm what a bad ride. LOL
