Hello Friends! How is your week going? We are enjoying the warmer weather and the longer days, Did you see that Disney recently shared their recipe for their Dole Whip? Today’s recipe is a nod to the delicious Dole Whip in a cupcake form.

Easy. I love simple recipes like this one because I can use ingredients I already have on hand and the amount of clean up is minimal.

Delicious. Dole Whips are a family favorite. To have the flavors in a cupcake is simply wonderful. 

Quick. These lovely pineapple flavor filled cupcakes are super quick to make.

What is a Dole Whip?

Today’s recipe is a wonderful frozen treat that is available at several Disney properties.

Just this month, Disney released their recipe for the beloved Dole Whip.

How to Make a Dole Whip?

Here’s what you need to make a dole whip:

1 scoop Vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup  pineapple juice
2 cups  pineapple frozen

You mix it all in a blender and then enjoy it and pretend you are at Disney! We are always looking for a way to celebrate the day, so I took it a step further.

Ingredients

Cake Mix – You can use a white or vanilla boxed cake mix for this recipe. I used a white one.

Pineapple –I used canned pineapple, but you can use fresh too!

Pineapple Juice – I’m partial Dole, but any pineapple juice will work for this recipe – even fresh pineapple juice.

How to Make Dole Whip Cupcakes

Step 1 – Preheat oven to 350 degrees f.

Step 2- Prepare Cake mix in a large mixing bowl.

Step 3 – Bake as directed and prepare frosting

Step 4 – Frost cooled cupcakes with Pineapple Buttercream (recipe below) using a piping bag and tip.

  • You can also use fresh pineapple for this recipe in the place of canned.
  • You can frost with a canned white buttercream frosting, just add some crushed pineapple and blend well.
Pineapple Cupcakes

Pineapple Buttercream Frosting

3 cups Powdered Sugar

1/2 cup butter, softened

2  tablespoons pineapple juice

1 tablespoon Heavy cream or milk

Step 1 – Mix softened butter, pineapple juice, milk and 1 cup sugar in a bowl.

Step 2 – Gradually add remaining sugar and blend well after each cup,

Step 3 – Frost cooled cupcakes with a knife or using a decorating tip.

NOTE – A stand or hand mixer is recommended for making this frosting. If too stiff, add a little more liquid. If too runny, add a little more powdered sugar.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 box cake mix
  • 1/2 8 oz can crushed pineapple
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 2 eggs

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine all ingredients for the cake.
  • Bake as directed.
  • Frost cupcakes with pineapple buttercream.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container.

  1. Magic!! I’ve never had a Dole Whip but I want one. I believe they released the real recipe but you know they have tricks up their sleeves.. there’s some Disney Magic we can’t make at home.
    That said, these cupcakes are another story.
