Ingredients for Old Fashioned Chocolate Pie with Jello Pudding
- Premade Pie Crust. I like to use an oreo crust. If you use a regular crust it should be baked and ready to go. You can also use a graham cracker crust or crushed cookie crust from the store.
- Instant chocolate Pudding mix. Two of the small box or one of the large boxes.
- Cold Milk. I recommend using whole milk because the extra fat improves the texture of the pudding.
- Cool Whip. You can use store-bought whipped topping or make your own whipped cream.
- Chocolate Bar. To garnish the top of the pie with chocolate curls.

Timesaving Tips for Chocolate Pie with Jello Pudding
- If you know you need a pie, bake your pie crust the day before if not using a store-bought crust. This makes the pie even faster to pull together. Store your baked pie crust at room temperature covered in plastic wrap.
- Once you've made your pie, refrigerate it for several hours or overnight to allow the pudding to set completely. This ensures that the pie slices neatly without being runny.
- Want to show your kids a fun trick? Have them help make the pudding in a shaker bottle. Just shake until the mixture thickens!
- To crush the chocolates or candy bars, place them in a plastic baggy, roll over them with a rolling pin, or hit them with the back of a metal (dry) measuring cup. This is also a great job for kids or teens.
- Chocolate Pudding Jello Pie desserts are best served cold, so keep it refrigerated until you're ready to serve it.
Storage
This pie must be refrigerated. Keep it in a sealed plastic container in the refrigerator for up to four days. It will start to get weepy at some point and should be discarded at that point.
