Stuffed Carrot Crescent Roll Ingredients
- crescent roll dough or original crescent dough sheet
- garlic
- fresh spinach; chopped
- fresh dill
- fresh chives
- cream cheese
- parsley
- salt
- Black pepper
See recipe card for quantities.
Equipment
- baking sheet
- pizza cutter, pastry cutter or sharp knife
- parchment paper
- cone-shaped molds or make your own with aluminum foil
- mixing bowl
Instructions
Step 1 - Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Shape a foil mold into the cafrrot shape. Repeat for 5 more carrots.
Step 2- Lay out crescent dough. If you bought the crescent roll dough roll over to seal any dotted areas. Use pizza cutter to cut lengthwise into 12 long strips.
Step 3 - Wrap the dough around the foil gently like little ice cream cones. Do not wrap tightly or it will be hard to remove once baked. Press end seams together to the dough gently. Bake on a parchment lined baking sheet for 9 minutes.
Step 4 - In a medium bowl, mix together cream cheese, garlic, spinach, dill, salt, and pepper.
Step 5 - Mix well with hand blender.
Step 6 - Remove dough from the oven. Let "carrots" cool completely before removing from the foil forms. Meanwhile, place the cream cheese mixture into a plastic piping bag and snip the end.
Let the cones cool and spoon cream cheese mixture into the holes of the crescent carrots. Top with a couple sprigs parsley for the carrot top.
Substitutions & Variations
- Flavorful herbed cream cheese - instead of making your own spread, fill the easter carrot with a cream cheese blend from the grocery store. This will save you some time.
- Egg salad or Chicken salad or Tuna salad - fill the cavity of each crescent with one of these salad mixes. These look so cute for an Easter tea party or Easter brunch.
- Apple pie filling - You can make this more of a dessert dish by filling each cone with 2 tablespoons of apple pie or cherry pie filling.
Storage
Store the carrots in an airtight container in the refrigerator. These are best enjoyed the day they are made.
