Timesaving Tips

  • The best way to make these spiral hot dogs is in the oven for even baking. Making these on a grill would be excessive heat for the dough and would likely burn.
  • You can cut the dough ahead of time and store in the refrigerator. Then prepare when ready.
  • Prepare the cheese stars ahead of time. You can even make extra and serve the stars on their own next to the hot dogs.
  • Use a cooking thermometer to check hot dogs for readiness. They should be at an internal temperature, which should be 165°F.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

  • 8 bun length hot dogs
  • 1 8 ct. can of crescent rolls
  • 4 oz. sharp cheddar cheese

  • Long skewers

Instructions

  • On a cutting board, roll out the crescent roll dough, and press the seams together.
  • Use a pizza cutter to divide the crescent roll sheet into 8 strips.
  • Fold each strip at half, and wind a crescent strip around each hot dog.
  • Place onto a parchment lined baking sheet, and bake for 10 minutes, until a light golden brown.
