These mini firework cakes are a fun and festive dessert to celebrate the 4th of July or any patriotic holiday.

Made with a boxed cake mix, these mini versions of a firecracker cake are the perfect dessert for your Fourth of July celebration.

Super easy to make and everyone loves them!

This fun take on a classic firecracker cake is a fun surprise for the dessert table this time of year.

  • white cake mix
  • eggs
  • vegetable oil
  • water
  • candy melts (Red, White and Blue)
  • Patriotic Sprinkles (optional)

Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • mini bundt cake pan – I like this festive bundt cake pan. they are x inch cake pans. 
  • 2 microwavable bowls
  • cooling rack

How to Make Mini Firework Cakes

Heat oven to 350° F. Prepare mini bundt pan with nonstick spray and prepare cake mix as directed. Pour into prepared pan.

Step 1 – Bake cakes and remove from pan. Let cool.

Step 2 – Melt candy melts in microwave one color at a time. Drizzle melted candy over cakes with a fork or spoon.

Step 3 – Let cool so that candy sets.

If desired, top with red white and blue sprinkles to the top of the cake if desired.Serve on their own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Substitutions

If you want, you could use white melts and just tint some with red and blue food coloring 

You could sub vanilla frosting or icing for the candy melt topping.

Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container.

Top Tips

  • For best results, place on cooling rack or plate before drizzling candy melts.
  • Greasing pans with shortening and lightly dusting with flour will also work.
  • Watch closely while warming candy melts in the microwave;

Ingredients
  

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • red candy melts
  • blue candy melts
  • white candy melts

Instructions
 

  • Heat oven to 350° f.
  • Prepare mini bundt pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, prepare box mix as directed on package with an electric mixer.
  • Pour batter into mini bundt pan.
  • Bake as directed, using the time indicated for cupcakes.
  • Let cool and prepare candy melts in microwave.
  • Drizzle cand mets over bundt cakes.
