Shark Week – Brownie Cupcakes

These shark brownies are a fun ocean-themed treat that is perfect for summer parties, Shark Week, beach days, or pool parties. Start with your favorite homemade or boxed brownies, then decorate them with blue frosting, candy sharks, and a few simple ocean-inspired toppings.

They are easy to make ahead, kid-friendly, and such a fun dessert for a party table. You can keep them simple with shark gummies and sprinkles, or make them extra cute with waves of frosting and crushed cookie “sand.”

Ingredients
For the Brownies
- 1 box brownie mix – You could also use a chocolate cupcake mix. i
- Ingredients called for on the box (typically eggs, oil, and water)
For the Decorations
- Blue frosting (store-bought or homemade)
- Gummy sharks or shark fin cupcake toppers
- White frosting for waves
How to Make Shark Brownies
Step 1 – Prepare the brownie mix (or cupcake mix) according to package directions. Bake in a linked cupcake pan and allow brownies to cool completely. Prepare blue frosting and spread blue frosting over the top.

Step 2 – Add white frosting swirls to resemble waves.

Step 3 – Place shark fin toppers on top of the brownies.

Shark Brownies
Equipment
- Shark Fin Toppers
Ingredients
- 1 box brownie mix
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 oil
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 can white frosting
- 2-3 drops blue food coloring
- ocean sprinkles optional
Instructions
- Bake Brownies according to package directions. Bake in a cupcake pan and allow brownies to cool completely (roughly 15 to 22minutes at 350°F, but brownie mix directions may vary).
- Mix 2-3 drops of blue food coloring with 2/3 of the white frosting and place it into the piping bag.
- Decorate the top of the Brownies with the blue icing
- Add white frosting dollops onto the brownies to make it look like waves.
- Place the shark fin into the top. If desired, add sprinkles.
