Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte Recipe

I first tried the Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte when I was shopping with my daughter. I have loved classic PSLs since they came out, but trying the Chai Latte version of a pumpkin latte was kind of life-changing. Now I had another fun Starbucks coffee drink to try and recreate at home.
This Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte is everything you want from a fall drink without the coffee shop line or the coffee shop price tag. It’s warm, spiced, just sweet enough, and ready in about 10 minutes — no espresso machine required.

I have enjoyed this hot and over ice for those few fall days that are warmer than others.

Why You’ll Love It
- Ready in 10 minutes — this comes together faster than a trip to the drive-thru.
- Cozy, spiced flavor — chai and pumpkin pie spice make this taste like fall in a mug.
- Simple ingredients — just five pantry staples, no fancy syrups needed.
- Easy to customize — sweeten it your way and make it dairy-free if you’d like.

Ingredients You’ll Need
- Whole milk — for a rich, creamy base. Any milk you have on hand will work.
- Chai tea concentrate — the shortcut to big chai flavor without steeping and simmering spices from scratch.
- Pumpkin puree — adds that classic pumpkin flavor and a hint of body to the latte.
- Pumpkin pie spice — the blend that ties everything together with warm, cozy notes.
- Honey or maple syrup — for sweetness, adjust to taste, or swap in your favorite sweetener.
Substitutions & Variations
- No chai tea concentrate? Steep 1 to 1½ teaspoons of homemade Chai Spice Mix in 1/2 cup strongly brewed hot black tea (or hot water, if you prefer a caffeine-free version) for about 5 minutes, then strain out the spices. Use this spiced tea in place of the chai concentrate, and proceed with the rest of the recipe as written.
- Dairy-free option — swap the whole milk for oat milk or your favorite non-dairy milk.
- Sweetener swap — honey, maple syrup, or a sugar-free sweetener all work well here.

Serving Suggestions
This latte is cozy all on its own, but it’s even better paired with a slice of [INTERNAL LINK PLACEHOLDER: pumpkin bread or fall baked good] or alongside [INTERNAL LINK PLACEHOLDER: a fall breakfast recipe]. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice for the full coffee-shop effect.
Storage & Reheating
Reheating: Reheat gently in a saucepan over low heat, or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until warmed through.
Storage: Store any leftover mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
FAQs
Can I make this ahead of time? Yes! Whisk together the milk, chai concentrate, pumpkin puree, spice, and sweetener, then store in the fridge and reheat individual servings as needed.
Can I use a different type of milk? Absolutely. Whole milk makes it extra creamy, but 2%, oat milk, or almond milk all work well.
What if I don’t have chai concentrate? Steep a bagged chai tea in 1/2 cup boiling water for about 5 minutes, remove the bag, then whisk in the remaining ingredients and reheat until steamy.
Can I make this iced? Yes — let the mixture cool, then pour over a glass of ice for an iced pumpkin chai latte.
