Pilgrim Hat Cookies

These adorable Pilgrim Hat Cookies are a fun and festive treat that everyone will love at your Thanksgiving celebration. When the kids were younger, they used to love to help me make these for the Thanksgiving table.
These are one of my favorite Thanksgiving dessert recipes to make!

This is a no bake dessert recipe as they are made with simple store-bought ingredients like fudge-striped cookies and marshmallows. These little pilgrim hats come together in just minutes and add a festive touch to your holiday dessert table.

- twizzler licorice ropes

How to Make Pilgrims Hat Cookies
Step by Step Pictorial Overview
Save The Recipe!

Step 1 – Melt chocolate melts as directed in microwave.

Step 2 – Dip pretzel stick in melted chocolate and press into marshmallow.

Step 3 – Repeat for all marshmallows and let set a minute.

Step 4 – Dip each marshmallow stick into melted chocolate.

Step 5 – Use a spoon to help coat the marshmallow completely

Step 6 – Place wet marshmallow on the bottom side of the fudge stripe cookie.

Step 7 – Cut starbursts into 4ths using a sharp knife.

Step 8- Secure a licorice rope to the base of the hat with a little melted chocolate.

Add yellow “buckles” and let hats cool completely!
Raquel’s Time Saving Tips
- Pour some melted chocolate in a piping bag to help with attaching the licorice and starburst for no-mess piping.
- You can upsize the recipe to make more. If you prep all the components ahead of time, these come together in a snap.
- Make them up to 2 days ahead and store in an airtight container.
- Use store-bought icing in squeeze tubes for quick decorating.
- For a fun family activity, prepare the chocolate steps ahead of time and chill. Then let everyone decorate each “hat”.
Substitutions and Variations
- you can sub chocolate wafer cookies for the fudge stripe cookies.
- You can sub Peanut Butter cups for the marshmallows for smaller hats.
- You can use m and m’s or other button candies for the buckles.
Storage and Serving
- Store at room temperature in a sealed container for up to 5 days.
- Serve on a dessert board or as Thanksgiving place setting treats.

Pilgrim Hat Cookies
Ingredients
- 12 regular marshmallows
- 12 fudge stripe cookies
- 12 pretzel sticks
- 1 light cocoa melting chocolates
- 2 pull and peel twizzlers – separated into strips
- 2 yellow starburst candies – cut into 6 pieces each
Instructions
- Gather marshmallows, cookies, pretzels and melting chocolates.
- Melt the melting candies by following the directions on the bag.
- Dip pretzel sticks into the melting candies and insert into each marshmallow. Let sit for a minute or two to allow it to harden.
- Dip marshmallows into the melting candies. Use a spoon to coat and smooth out the chocolate. Coat the bottom as well
- Once marshmallows are coated, place on the chocolate side of the fudge stripe cookies.
- Take a twizzler and wrap around the bottom of the marshmallow. Use a small amount of melting chocolate to attach it to the marshmallow base.
- Attach the yellow starburst piece to the front of the “pilgrim hat”.
