These Packing Tips for Travel are great for weekend getaways!

Great packing tips for travel. If you are traveling for weeks or just a weekend, check out these packing tips to pack lighter! The best part about summer is that it is the perfect time to get away for a quick weekend trip or week-long family vacation. The kids are off, the weather is usually good and there is just a relaxing vibe in most areas.

I became a light packer early. In high school, I went to Europe for 35 days with only one suitcase. It made me be super selective on what I brought and it worked. I think it really takes a few trips to get your packing down to a science. You know you packed well is if you use everything you packed and did not feel like you forgot anything at the end of your trip it is a win.

However, please know that I have been known to purchase items at the local drugstore more than once when we have needed something we did not pack. I also like ensure that I leave a little room for some souvenirs if it is a place I have never been before.

Packing Tips for Travel

Planning your activities

Think about your activities and plan accordingly so you know what to bring. If I know I will be out in the sun, a hat, sunscreen and beach bag are a must. There is nothing worse than having to buy sunscreen or hats because you forgot to bring one.

Pack a capsule wardrobe

Bring clothes that will work together well. Everything should be able to mix and match with each other. For shoes, bring a pair of walking shoes and maybe some sandals. I like to wear White, Khaki and one other color for summer trips. Check the weather beforehand so you are ready for what is expected.

Make the Most of Space

Use packing bags or zippered plastic bags to keep stuff organized. I like these bags because I can just pull them out and know what is in them. It also saves room in the suitcase, because you can squeeze all the air out. Tuck in belts, socks and small items in shoes to maximize space.

Good question! Our next weekend trip is to Cape Cod! Then there is a Boston Comic Con in the mix too.
I have never understood the capsule wardrobe thing but I think it would be a fitting time to learn!
Last year at this time I was at Blogger Bash NYC!

Hi, I'm Raquel! I am a self-proclaimed foodie and have enjoyed cooking and baking since I was little. I loved baking cookies with my mother and grandma as a child, and later making dinners for my parents to foster my passion while in high school. I also had a passion for organizing and keeping things tidy.
