Oreo Truffles Recipe

These easy Oreo Truffles are a fun and easy recipe. This no bake treat is perfect for special occasions or for picnics and backyard bbqs.
I made these in Red White and Blue for the 4th of July, but you could easily change up the colors.

This sweet treat is also perfect for goodie bags. Let then set (overnight is best) and you can put then in cellophane bags.

Oreo Truffle Recipe Ingredients

- Oreo Cookies – you will be using crushed Oreos so no need to worry about using broken cookies.
- Candy Melts – these make the best candy coating
- Cream cheese – it is helpful to have the block of cream cheese to be at room temperature

How to Make Oreo truffles
Step 1 – Crush Oreos into fine crumbs.

Step 2 – Add cream cheese to Oreo cookie crumbs.

Step 3 – Roll into small balls and chill.

Step 4 – Melt candy melts in a double broiler or microwave.

Step 5 – Dip Oreo balls in candy melts. Place balls on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

Save The Recipe!
Step 6 – Repeat with second color and add sprinkles if desired.

Step 7 – Add drizzle if desired.

Allow the Oreo truffles to set for 30 minutes, and enjoy

- Flavored Oreos – This recipe can be made with any Oreo flavors or any favorite chocolate sandwich cookie. Sub the regular Oreos for Golden Oreos or Lemon Oreos.

- You can make the Oreo crumbs ahead of time. When making cookie truffles, it is important to pulse or crush the cookies in a food processor or blender until they become fine crumbs.
- I prefer to melting wafers in the microwave as it is quick.
- Use a small cookie scoop to help form uniform balls.
- Work in small batches – roll into 1-inch balls or 1 1/2-inch balls for best results.
- You can use wax paper on your hands to help form the balls with less sticking.
- Allow dipped truffles to cool completely before serving.

Once dipped, decorate cookie truffles with chopped nuts, sprinkles, or crushed candy bits before the chocolate hardens completely.
Can I freeze cookie truffles?
Yes they can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 2 months. when storing, layer them between sheets of parchment paper to prevent them from sticking together.

Equipment
- food processor or baggie and rolling pin

Ingredients
- 36 Oreo Cookies
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 12 oz. red candy melts
- 12 oz. blue candy melts
- 12 oz. vanilla almond bark
- 4 th of July sprinkles
Instructions
- Add half the Oreo cookies to your food processor, and blitz to crumbs.
- Add the remaining Oreos, and blitz again until they’re all crumbs.
- Add the 8 ounces cream cheese, and mix in the processor until well combined.
- Roll the oreo and cream cheese mixture into 1-1 1/2 inch balls, and place onto a sheet pan or cutting board covered with wax paper.
- Once all of the mixture is rolled, move them to the refrigerator to chill for 1 hour.
- If needed, after the hour is up, roll the Oreo balls again to make them more round (sometimes they will settle).
- After chilling, heat the blue candy melts in the microwave by heating for 30 second increments, stirring well in between.
- Drop blue candy over half of the Oreo balls, letting the excess drip off. Place them back onto the wax paper. For the best results, place each ball onto a fork and let the candy fall over.
- Top every other blue Oreo truffle with sprinkles, quickly before the candy sets. (We’ll drizzle the others with more candy.)
- For the remaining Oreo balls, melt the red candy melts in the microwave by heating on 30 second increments, stirring well in between.
- Add sprinkles to every other red Oreo ball.
- For the white drizzle, melt the almond bark in the microwave, by heating on 30 second increments.
- Pour the melted almond bark into a plastic sandwich storage bag. Then, snip off a tiny spot from one corner.
- Drizzle the blank Oreo balls with the white candy, and quickly add sprinkles.
- Allow the Oreo truffles to set for 30 minutes, and enjoy.
