Tips for the Best Results
- Use Room Temperature Ingredients: Ensure the butter and eggs are at room temperature for smoother mixing and better texture.
- Mix Dry Ingredients First: Combine the purpose flour, cake flour, baking powder, and baking soda in a mixing bowl to ensure even distribution.
- Don’t Overmix the Batter: Mix the dry and wet ingredients just until combined to keep the cake light and fluffy.
- Check for Doneness: Use a wooden pick inserted in the center of the cake. If it comes out clean, the cake is ready.
- Cool on a Wire Rack: Let the cake cool completely on a wire rack before adding the glaze.
Substitutions and Variations
- Flour: You can use all-purpose flour or cake flour if unavailable.
- Add-ins: Incorporate chocolate chips or nuts into the streusel topping for added flavor and texture.
