Today I am sharing a fun, dollar store St. Parick's Day craft idea. These festive Leprechaun Hats are so easy to make and they also make for fun party decorations too!

Leprechaun Hats

Hello Friends!

Today I am sharing a fun St. Patrick's Day hat craft idea that is perfect for a table setting or just some home decor. With spring around the corner, it's the perfect time to get out some craft supplies and make these cute leprechaun hats.

You can use these for place settings and the best part is that you can get all the supplies for this craft at the dollar store!

If you have been around here a while, you know we love dollar store crafting. 

Now on to today's tutorial. 

How to make Leprechaun Hat Craft

With just a few supplies from the Dollar Store and a few household supplies, you can paint these flower pots with paints and make little leprechaun hats.

This is a fun St. Patrick;s Day craft idea for kids and adults and they are very inexpensive to make. 

LEPRECHAUN HAT Materials

Materials:

  • Dollar Store Clay Pots – 2.5” in diameter
  • Dollar Store Craft Paper – Gold Glitter, Lime Green, Olive Green, Kelly Green, and Bright Green
  • Acrylic Craft Paint – Bright Green, Dark Green, and Kelly Green
  • Ribbon – Rainbow ½" and Black ⅜”
  • Pencil
  • Markers
  • Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Scissors
  • Paintbrush
  • Ruler
  • CLAY POT LEPRECHAUN HAT PATTERN SHEET

 

Leprechaun Hat Craft Step by Step Instructions:

Step One

LEPRECHAUN HAT Step 1

Gather all materials then remove all packaging and labels. Basecoat three 2.5” clay pots with three different shades of green paint, bright green, dark green, and kelly green. Let the paint dry and then apply a second coat, if necessary.

Step Two

LEPRECHAUN HAT Step 2

Once the clay pots are dry, apply black ribbon around the circumference, just above the rim with a glue gun and glue sticks.

Step Three

LEPRECHAUN HAT Step 3Measure a one-inch by one-inch square of gold glitter cardstock and cut out with scissors. Apply gold glitter buckle to the front of the hat with a glue gun and glue sticks.

Work on shapes, colors, and cutting skills with this simple Dollar Store Clay Pot Leprechaun Hat craft created from Dollar Store Clay Pots and some craft paint.

STEP FOUR

LEPRECHAUN HAT Step 4

Tie a bow from the rainbow ribbon, cut a triangular notch from the tail ends and attach to the center of the gold glitter buckle with a glue gun and glue sticks.

STEP FIVE

LEPRECHAUN HAT Step 5Download and print the Dollar Store Clay Pot Leprechaun Hat Craft Pattern. Cut out the shamrock shape and then trace onto bright green, olive green, kelly green, and lime green craft paper. Cut out shamrock shapes with scissors.

 

STEP SIX

LEPRECHAUN HAT Step 6

Decorate with markers, adding either a pattern or the recipient’s name. Attach to Leprechaun Hat with a glue gun and glue sticks.

    ADORABLE! My kids still very much believe in leprechauns. And that rainbow ribbon is truly amazing. I'd want to use it for EVERYTHING.
