It has been really busy at my day job with school starting. There is always so much to do and I have come home with limited energy. I did, however, make these Homemade Cereal Bars the other day for snacks.
What I love about this Homemade Cereal Bar Recipe is that it makes for a snack that is very packable for lunches, snacks, and on the go nourishment. You can change up the cereal and fruit and know that these bars always come out terrific!
I love to use Multigrain cereal, but this works with other oat cereals. I also prefer to use cereal with less sugar because then I feel the bars are too sweet, but what is great is that you can experiment with your favorite cereal. You can also use specialty organic cereal or wheat-free cereal to make these bars.
How To Make Cereal Bars
It's really just a matter of gathering some favorite cereals, dried fruits and even nuts if you wish, and putting them together.
The mixture comes together and you can have the bars ready in just minutes.
These do require a little time to cool after they are placed in the pan, but it only takes a few minutes to set before you can slice them up and serve.
Honesty, why wouldn't you want to make your own. You can control the ingredients and these save you money too!
I can find a box of cereal on sale for just a couple of dollars. Each box probably makes about 2 dozen bars. If you look for the treat bars in the market, you will see how much money you can save making your own.
They also taste better, in my opinion, and they really do not take that much time to put together. These are a tasty and filling snack and great for an afterschool (or after work) treat. You can even cut them up and serve as a dessert!
Don't forget to pin this for later.

A fun twist on classic Rice Krispie Treats... add marshmallow to anything and I'm game 😉
Raquel
They are really good Jamie, and I used a smaller marshmallow to cereal ratio to reduce the sugar.
Tamara
I love these! And I hate how expensive they are when you buy them.
My favorite cereal was always Lucky Charms but now that I'm older I like the Trader Joe's version of Rice Krispies. And I like to add a little cream to the milk! So sinful.
Raquel
Oooh I love Lucky Charms! I will have to try putting them into bars sometime. I will have to check out the TJ Rice Krispies too.

My boys would absolutely LOVE these. I like the cereal combo you used.
Raquel
Thank you Debbie! I love to change the cereal combinations and really like this one. Happy weekend!
Ginny Marie
I think my girls would love these made with regular Cheerios! (Although I might eat them all myself!)
Raquel
Yes I am sure they would be good with regular Cheerios too! Thanks for stopping by Ginny!
