Tips for the Best Results
- Use a mandoline slicer or vegetable peeler to create thin slices of cucumber. Thin layers make them easier to roll.
- Pat the cucumber slices with a paper towel to remove excess moisture, which helps them stay crispy.
- Roll tightly to prevent the filling from spilling. Cocktail sticks or toothpicks can help secure the rolls for serving.
- Garnish with fresh dill and chives for an extra pop of flavor.
Substitutions and Variations
- Extra seasoning: Add a sprinkle of garlic powder or bagel seasoning to the filling for more zest.
- Different fillings: Try smoked salmon, thin slices of deli meats, or even bell peppers for extra crunch.
- Swap the mayo: If you’re not a fan of mayo, you could use a thin spread of cream cheese or Greek yogurt.
