If you have been around here a while you know I love crafting and decorating with items from the dollar store. I needed some more Valentine's decorations to celebrate, so I made this Valentine Chalkboard sign the other day with a tray from the dollar store.
First, I picked up a couple of round trays. They are silver and look nice on their own, but we are going to cover them.
I cut out some chalkboard contact paper to cover the base of the tray.
Then using chalk markers, I drew a little Valentine's design on the circle.
I recommend testing the markers on some of the chalkboard paper scraps to get the right fluid consistency and the designs that you like before making your final design. It is kind of like chalkboard doodles. the paper and markers have a different feel than regular paper and standard makers so play around a bit to come up with your chalkboard decoration ideas.
Then when you are ready, draw your final design. This is how mine looked when I was done.

What a cute sign! I like how you used the tray as a frame 🙂
