planning a super bowl party

SNICKERS®  bar cookies are great for any day, but are especially great for football games.

My hubby and I are huge football fans! We love following our team members throughout the football season. If you’ve been here before, you know we even have season tickets to some college games.
Every year we host a party for the big pro football game. The game is a lot of fun even before the game actually starts. The best part about the day is being with friends, the commercials, and of course the food!
So I am sharing some tips on how to organize a football viewing party.

Big Bowl Game Party Tips

First, determine how many people you want to invite. While some people can possibly sit on the floor, make sure that you have enough seating for TV viewing. Consider adding a second TV so that people can spread out a little bit. Invite them with an electronic invite or an email and ask them to RSVP. Consider asking each family to bring a dish to share.

While the game can be fun for most, some people will not really be that interested the game, but go for the fun. You can make a football trivia game for the adults or create a contest based on which team will win and what the final score will be.
Don’t forget activities for the kids. Create some fun games like Football Scramble – For this game take football terms and mix up the letters. Give the kids a timed test to unscramble the words.
Another fun game for kids is Find the Footballs – hide little football “eggs” using those plastic eggs, that have been filled with treats like Skittles® and then hiding them in the backyard. Need more activities? Consider hiring a sitter or two to entertain and help watch the kids for the day.
Football Fun Snacks

Pick easy drinks like sodas, juices, water and beer for your guests. Try to avoid anything red in case drinks go a splashing when someone gets excited about a football play. (I have seen this happen more than once.) Buy drinks in single serve cans so that you can have them all sitting in a cooler and people can serve themselves. No cups or glasses to wash – hurray!

We love to snack pretty much all through the game, so I recommend having appetizers and hand-held food so that people can graze while watching the game. Sandwiches, burgers and chili make a great half-time meal because by that time, people are ready to get up and move for a while. Be sure to check my recipe file for a great chili recipe.

Of course, do not forget to have some memorable desserts too!

The Skittles Cookies (pictured above) are fun to make – just reduce the sugar by 1/2 cup in your favorite sugar cookie recipe and add 1/2 cup of Skittles to the dough before baking.

One of the treats I’m serving this year are these tasty SNICKERS bar cookies made with SNICKERS mini’s that are always a winner!

These little pieces of nougat goodness are amazing in a cookie.

These cookies are soft and filled with the sweet flavor of SNICKERS. They are perfect for game day or pretty much any day!

I can barely handle this! Literally. My stomach is a bit upset today just from all the traveling and bad food, so even though my appetite is fine, I'm not eating sweets today. SO SAD. I want to go to a Super Bowl party at your house! Skittles cookies! Never had them. Same with Snickers bar cookies.
