My Favorite Gift Ideas for Babies Under One Year Old

Last year I had the amazing privilege of becoming a grandparent. It has been the most amazing thing in my life other than having my own kids. I have purchased more than my share of gifts for the little guy over the last year and want to share my favorite toys for the early years with you.
Choosing the perfect gift for a baby under one year old can be a challenging task, especially the first month or two. While babies are developing their sense and motor skills, they are still quite limited in their abilities.

Gifts that stimulate these areas are not only fun for the baby but also support their developmental milestones. Here are some of my favorite educational gift ideas which encourage sensory activities that I have bought for babies under one year old. These toys are all so much fun but be sure to check the recommended ages.
Best Gifts
You can find links to my favorite gifts below in my Amazon Shop. They are the best baby toys for little fingers and a great way to foster baby’s development:
1. Books
Board books or soft books are an easy way to foster reading. These books usually feature vibrant colors, various textures, lift the flaps and sometimes even sounds or crinkly pages. Baby books encourage sensory exploration, which is crucial at this stage of development.

2. Play Mats
Play mats provide a safe and stimulating sensory play environment for babies to explore. I love the water filled play mats as they encourage tummy time, which helps develop neck and shoulder muscles.

3. Stacking Toys and Rings
Stacking toys and rings are classic choices that offer numerous developmental benefits during baby play. These toys help improve hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as babies learn to grasp, stack, and sort the pieces. .

Musical toys, such as rattles, cymbals and pretend drums are great for sensory development.

6. Sensory Balls
Sensory balls come in various textures, sizes, and colors, making them perfect for tactile stimulation. These balls help little hands develop their grip coordination.
7. What’s Inside
This colorful, surprise box is filled with 8 soft sensory toys. tt’s a fun sensory bin surprise that’s sure to engage your baby as they reach inside for them. These toys have lots of different textures and encourage creative play.

Plush toys that are soft to touch can be highly engaging for babies. These toys provide comfort and companionship, making them a beloved choice for both parents and babies. You can also do puppet play or sing songs with these cute farm puppets for a fun activity.
