Hot Strawberry Milk – Cold Strawberry Milk

This Hot Strawberry Milk recipe is just what you want when you feel like a hot beverage but just want something other than hot chocolate or without caffeine and made with fresh strawberries.
When I was younger, we used to make strawberry milk with a powdered mix, but this recipe uses fresh strawberries and no artificial coloring.
We like it as a nice change-up from hot cocoa or for a fun and festive way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Serve this with these festive Valentine’s Heart cookies for a fun snack!
Hello Friends! Are you getting some wet weather like we are? It has been raining quite a bit here and I am so looking forward to having a day when I do not have to drive in it and can just curl up with a good book and relax. My favorite moments of reflection are those when I am sitting in a quiet house and enjoying a hot beverage.
Today’s recipe is one that is great for adults and kids of all ages. If you have been around the island for a while, you know that we love making our drinks from scratch. This one is no different and you can make it in minutes.
We like to serve it with marshmallows (it is truly delicious if you haven’t tried it), but you can also top it with whipped cream and even some sprinkles if you like.
Ingredients for Strawberry Milk
Milk – I used 2% but whole skim or almond milk works too!
Strawberries – Fresh works best, but frozen is ok too
Sugar– I used white sugar for this recipe.
Marshmallows – I love adding a few of these, but you can add whipped cream too!

This recipe serves one, but you can double or triple this as needed. I like to use the remaining strawberry pulp for smoothies so that nothing goes to waste.
Note: I like to use a handheld chopper, but you can use a potato masher or fork to mash the strawberries too.
For Cold Strawberry Milk without Food Color do the same process but do not heat the milk.
Hot Strawberry Milk Recipe

Strawberry Milk Hot or Cold
Ingredients
- 10 strawberries washed and stems removed
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- a few mini-marshmallows or whipped cream
Instructions
- In a hand chopper or bowl, mash strawberries.
- Add sugar to strawberries and combine.
- Let sit for a minute or two.
- Heat milk over medium-low heat.
- Add strawberry mixture to milk and stir.
- Pour in a mug using a strainer to catch the strawberry bits.
- Use a spoon to squeeze the pulp.
- Top with marshmallows or whipped cream.
