Instructions
This tasty gingerbread hot chocolate recipe is so easy to make:
Step 1 - Place chocolate chips, sugar and spices in small or medium saucepan.
Step 2 -Add milk.
Step 3 - Add molasses.
Step 4 - Heat for 7-10 minutes
Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream. Add a gingerbread cookie and/or a cinnamon stick.
Substitutions & Variations
There are several ways to change this up:
- Milk - instead of whole milk, you can use 2%, soy milk, almond milk or even a non-dairy milk.
- Flavor - You can add a splash of gingerbread syrup for more ginger flavor. Or you can add a couple of drops of vanilla extract or almond extract to the chocolate mixture. Another way to change it up is to add a touch of brown sugar or pure maple syrup.
- Garnishes - you can change up the garnishes, add a cinnamon stick or candy cane in place of the cookie.

- 2 hot chocolate mugs or glasses
Ingredients
- 3 cups milk
- 2 tbsp. Cocoa powder
- ¼ cup Milk chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp. Granulated sugar
- ½ tbsp. Molasses
- 1 ½ tsp. Ground ginger
- ¼ tsp. Nutmeg
- Whipped cream for topping
- A sprinkle of nutmeg for topping optional
- Gingerbread cookies for topping optional
Instructions
- In a medium or small saucepan, combine cocoa powder, chocolate chips, sugar, molasses, ginger, nutmeg, and milk.
- Heat over medium heat, whisking occasionally, until chocolate is melted, and the mixture is steamy.
